Things are Hoppin'

We hope everyone had a great Spring Break!  We are all rested and ready to begin the 4th quarter.  The school district will be sending out links to our Continuous Learning Plan later today, Friday, March 27th.  The link will be live on Monday, March 30th.  So until then, rest, relax, and enjoy your family time!!

Shared Reading and Science

We will be reading Growing Frogs
this week and City Dog, Country Frog next week.  We will be discussing the frog life cycle,  what animals need to survive, and writing some frog facts.

We will continue to work on our number bonds, specifically the teen numbers.  19=10+9, 16= 6+10, and so on.  We will work with the sum on either side of the equals sign.  We will practice counting to 100 by 1s, 5s, and 10s.  We will count to 50 by 2s.  We will keep working on the relationships and patterns with numbers in a one hundred chart.

If you are looking for ways to practice counting to 100, look for Harry Kindergarten or Jack Hartman on YouTube.  Go to their channels, they have many different ways to get the kids moving and learning.

Week of November 25th Family Traditions

Student Progress

We continue to monitor student progress through small group instruction. We assess sight words throughout the month, and we record daily observations of student writing.  We continue to assess students individually on our current math instruction so that we can provide re-teaching as needed.  We will begin running records and formal assessments in December so that we can complete grade cards.  If there are any concerns, you will be contacted by the classroom teacher privately.  As always, if you have questions please don’t hesitate to contact us!

Traditions
We will be comparing and contrasting traditions based on season. We will discuss the geography of our plate; where our food comes from.  We will also learn about the mother of Thanksgiving, Sarah Hale.  We will read The Relatives Came, Turkey Trouble, and A Turkey for Thanksgiving.  We will talk about how each family may have specific family traditions.  Please discuss any family traditions you have with your student so that we may have productive conversations at school.

We will continue to focus on counting 0-10.  We will use one to one correspondence while counting to 10.  Students will practice forming the numbers correctly.  Here are some number sayings to help you work on  forming numbers correctly.
