Week of ROYALS winning the World Series aka November 2- 6, 2015

We are working on blending and segmenting words.  We are working with words that have 3 sounds such as /c/ /a/ /t/, /m/ /a/ /n/, and  /b/ /a/ /g/.  We are reviewing all the letter sounds.  If you want you can YouTube Alpha-friends and sing along!

Reading - we are focusing on retelling the story, making predictions and forming opinions.  We are learning how to write a response to literature.

Math - we are counting up to 100!!  We will be spending quite a bot of time comparing numbers.  We will work on figuring out if a number is greater than or less than the number we are comparing it to.

Science/Social Studies have been incorporated into shared reading.  We have talked about bats, force, and will cover shapes and signs this week.

Handwriting - we are still working to form all letters correctly.  Using lines is a challenge.  We are working to encourage students to use capital letters and lowercase letters appropriately. This is a process and will take some time.

Reminder PTO Movie Night is Friday.

Notes from Mrs. Gottschalk

Ravenwood Parents,

Royals Mania has hit Kansas City and Ravenwood!

1.   We have rescheduled class pictures and re-takes to next Tuesday, November 10th.

2.  The 3rd grade field trip (Kray and Brownrigg)  has been rescheduled for Tuesday, November 17th.

3.   Would you please reply back to your classroom teacher and let him/her know if your child will be leaving or missing school for the parade and pep rally on Tuesday?   We would like to also know if they will be gone all day or the time you will be picking up your child.  We are attempting to get an estimated student count for Tuesday’s school day.

a. The reply email to your child’s teacher will be given to Mrs. Cooksey in the office so you will not have to call your child’s absence in for Tuesday.

4.  The district has not determined if the parade absence is excused or unexcused.   If absences for the parade are considered unexcused-- this will not affect any attendance awards or your child’s ability to make up an missed work.  Just be honest.

Thanks,

Christi
