Welcome to Ravenwood Elementary's Camp Kindergarten
We are excited to spend time with your child. We will be working with all the kindergarten students throughout the next four days. We will be dividing the students up into different groups in order to find three "just right" classes. We are looking to spread out the number of boys and girls, to have a good mix of academic abilities, and to have complimentary personalities both student with teacher and students with other students.
Our schedule for the first few days will have each group of students rotating through each of our three classrooms. All teachers will be completing the same activity with each group. We then can get together with our notes to see how students have interacted, reacted, and blended. Don't be surprised if your child tells you they switched groups. That's the whole point! We want to do as much mixing as possible to get to know everyone!
During these first few days we will be introducing our first 4 sight words; I, see, a, at. We will use these words to write predictable sentences. I see a ____ at ____. The teacher sentence might be I see a ball at PE. We will give out the first quarter sight words during Back to School/ Meet the Teacher Night.
On Monday, August 20th you will receive a note informing you of your child's teacher for the 2018 - 2019 school year!
