For the first 10 days of kindergarten we teach a color word a day. Students are encouraged to wear the color of the day each day. We make class books for each color word and learn the song for the color of the day. The eleven color words, green, orange, yellow, red, blue, purple, pink, gray, white brown, black will be our sight words for week 2 and 3.

We will be working on counting to five! Ask you child how to count the "kindergarten way". Children start with their pinkie finger on their left hand and count 1,2,3,4,5 towards their thumb. (Adults modeling the counting start with their right pinkie, students mirror them. See this video for a great explanation.)
